Hero's Journey: Literary Theories

From Hero's Journey Text Set

A variety of literary theories can be applied to the works I have selected: Feminist criticism, New Historicism, Marxist criticism, Four Resources, Critical Race Theory, Border Studies, and Reader Response. While I think that most any theory can be bent to serve as a framework through which to analyze a work, I feel that the use of critical theories works best when the connections are undeniable rather than tenuous. That is why I wouldn't use an Archetypal framework to examine The Ordinary Princess, or Critical Race Theory to examine Star Wars. I have detailed which theories correspond to which texts on my e-Text Set website and in an attached table.
